What is the sun made of?

It certainly is pretty amazing. But what the sun is made of is far more complex and amazing than the simple sum of its elemental parts and how or where they came from. The sun is also a massive anomalous distortion of space-time caused by the magnetohydrodynamics of the differential rotation of the gas and plasma in the sun's different zones. The sun is even wildly more strange than that, but since I don't really understand the math, I wouldn't want to go there.
