Does a Helium tank expire?

Can anyone help me I have this helium tank I don't know how old it is but yeah. Ok we were going to refill it because we have a party today so we were going to fill up some balloons then my brother in law went to go refill it ok then they asked him that they can't because the tank was expired and they couldn't refill it because of that. So does a helium tank ever expire
